Bocce News

Carolyn Rota

It’s been a very hot and dry summer. Soon the snowbirds will be flying home, and there is only a few weeks until bocce starts again on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Remember when you were a kid and counted the days until school was over for the summer? Well, here we are counting days until bocce and cooler weather hits the courts! Now’s a good time to write on your calendars a reminder to reserve the courts for practice. To reserve Eagle’s Nest (EN) courts, write in the sign-up book on the counter in the EN Sports Complex building, next to the bocce courts. Select your time and put your name or your team’s name on the time slots. Remember, the day of play is when you warm up, all the other days you’re at the courts and play, that’s practice.

The following is information for the PC Bocce 2023-24 season play. It can also be found on the PC Bocce QuickScore home page.

The fall captain’s meeting will be on Friday, Sept. 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Palm Room in Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse.

Dues for 2023/24 seasons will be $5 per person per every season and league, day or night, that you play in.

Recreational team structure rules:

* Teams of at least 6 and no more than 12 players

* No player should play more than 2 games in a match.  If they do then the team incurs a 5 point penalty per person playing a 3rd game.

* Please remember that glass containers of any kind are not permitted on any sports courts in PebbleCreek.

Important FYI: When you do come down to practice, only bocce league members are allowed to open the shed and use the practice balls for play. The balls and all the equipment on the rolling carts are for League Game Days and Nights play only. If you come to play with friends or family, it would be appreciated if you would bring a set of bocce balls with you, or you can rent them from the Activity Center. Their hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Replacing bocce balls is a necessity due to wear and tear, and they are costly to replace.

Please remember to use the removable boards on the courts, if you need to. These removable boards are to accommodate residents who have limited mobility. It allows them to proceed directly onto the courts without having to go over any type of barrier. We want the 2023-24 bocce seasons to be injury-free.

Also if you’re not feeling well, take care and stay home or seek medical attention if necessary.

I would like to take this moment to express the sincerest sympathy of the PC Bocce Club Association to Maryann and Tom Bose on the passing of their beloved Kristine. May she rest in peace, and may the Lord comfort her family in their time of sorrow.

Wishing all of you the safest of travel coming home to PebbleCreek. See you on the courts.
