Bocce Members Help Out St. Mary’s Food Bank

Bocce members volunteering at St. Mary’s Food Bank in Surprise

Tom Bose, President

On May 22 several bocce members volunteered at St. Mary’s Food Bank in Surprise. It was a lot of work, but fun to do it as a group. St. Mary’s is always looking for help throughout the year, so please check into volunteering at some time. This is a great and worthy cause to support.

Let’s see what else is new in the bocce world. Well, not much. It’s hot, the snowbirds flew the courts, those who stayed flock to the pools, and still some hardy players manage to make it to the courts at night and toss a few balls. So here are some things to remember when at the sports building or using the courts. The courts belong to the community. Homeowners and visitors may reserve bocce courts for up to 90 minutes. To reserve Eagle’s Nest (EN) courts, write in the sign-up book on the counter in the EN Sports Complex building, next to the bocce courts. If you are not a club member but want to try your bocce skills prior to signing on and don’t have a set of bocce balls, you can rent them for a nominal fee at the Activity Office. Their hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Registration for 2023-24 Bocce Season Begins Aug. 1

Current teams who might like to play more days or nights, players looking to start their own teams, and all the newbies who would love to try their hand at playing bocce, now is the time to make a decision. We play Tuesday and Thursday nights and Wednesday and Friday days. If you’re new to PebbleCreek, this is a wonderful way to meet great people and learn how to play a fun, enjoyable game. Our courts are ADA accessible, so don’t let limitations stop you.

Registration for the 2023-24 season begins Aug. 1. All registrations must be done online at www.QuickScores.com/PebbleCreekbocce. This link will include the dues cost, where to send your dues, and more information about the PC Bocce club. The start of the fall 2023-24 bocce season is Sept. 19 ending on Nov. 10, 2023. Remember to check QuickScores often for updates. There will be no kiosk dates to register for any of the 2023-24 sessions. If you want to join bocce for the first time, have questions about signing up, or need help with QuickScores, please contact the president, Tom Bose, at 602-478-8747.

Wishing all of you the best of health and the safest of travel. See you in the fall.
