Bob Parise and his guest Steve Farand were the overall Traditional Format winners of the 2018 PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association 23rd annual Member/Guest tournament. The tourney was held on Thursday, April 26 at Eagle’s Nest and on Friday, April 27 at Tuscany Falls. Immediately after regulation play was concluded on Friday, the overall winners were determined in a playoff.
Each two-man team had a choice whether to play traditional stroke play or match play. So, we really had two tournaments within a tournament. The Traditional Format consisted of two 18-hole stroke-play rounds. The format for the first round was a Chapman (a modified alternate shot). The format for the second round was a two-man net best ball. A total of 46 teams competed in three separate flights.

*won scorecard playoff
The three flight winners met on hole no. 1 of the new nine at Tuscany Falls to determine the overall winners. This was the third time in tournament history that this hole was utilized for the playoff. The format was a three-hole net-aggregate with players alternating shots. Three different tees and hole placements were used. The first hole played as a 345-yard par 4. The second hole as a 200-yard par 3 and the final hole as a 100-yard par 3. Ronnie Decker and Dave Vader conducted this playoff.
This playoff venue makes for an exciting finish. The true alternate format is a tough one where par was a great score. Each team was assigned a special handicap to reflect the three-hole aggregate scoring. The Parise/Farand team took a one-shot lead over the Armstrong team with a par on the first hole. They extended that lead to two shots after the second hole. The Bundschuh team had a great tournament but were a non-factor in the playoff. The pressure was intense. No lead was safe with bonus money on the line. On the last hole, the Armstrong team applied that pressure as Les hit a great tee shot to within 20 feet of the hole. Scott just missed the birdie putt and Bob and Steve made a commercial bogey to win the grand prize!
Congratulations to all the winners especially Bob and Steve!
We want to thank Jeff Lebo, Joe Miller and their greenskeeper staffs as well as the Food & Beverage staff and managers for all of their efforts. Thanks to Bill Barnard, Jason Whitehill, Ronnie Decker and Dave Vader for all they do for our events.
