Board candidates to field homeowners’ questions

The Election Committee of the PebbleCreek Homeowners Association encourages all homeowners to participate in a Meet-the-Candidates Night in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom on Monday, October 24 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Homeowners can take advantage of this opportunity to meet their neighbors who are running for a resident-volunteer vacancy on the PebbleCreek HOA Board of Directors.

The evening’s agenda begins with an explanation of the paper voting process – both mail-in and in-person ballots – to be completed Wednesday, November 9, in the PCHOA board’s upcoming election. After a moderator explains the plan for the evening, every candidate will be allowed several minutes each for opening remarks. The moderator will then ask each candidate one question from a grouping that the Election Committee will have shared with the candidates in advance. The moderator will time candidates’ answers and offer the other candidates the option of responding. Then it’s the audience’s turn to use open microphones to pose questions to the candidates. At the conclusion of the Q&A, candidates will have two minutes apiece for closing remarks. For the evening’s final hour, candidates will be invited to claim a corner of the room for meeting one-on-one with homeowners until the closing gong at 10:00 p.m.

“Our Election Committee provides homeowners this opportunity for dialogue and respectful, bona fide inquiries to clarify candidates’ positions on issues that serve the greater good of the community,” said Gordon Seaman, committee chair.

Candidates in the November 2016 election are vying for a two-year, resident-volunteer position on the PCHOA Board of Directors, beginning January 1, 2017. A director’s duties and responsibilities are described in Article V Section Two of PebbleCreek’s CC&Rs, which are posted on the PCHOA website.

The deadline for homeowners to have declared their candidacy was September 30, which occurred after this publication’s submission date. The HOA-approved list of candidates was announced recently in the PCHOA’s electronic newsletter, PebbleNews. Declared candidates are responsible for promoting their own candidacies.
