Bill Anderson made a hole-in-one on Wednesday, January 24 while playing in the PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association mid-winter classic tournament. This was Bill’s first hole-in-one ever. He made it on the par-3 eighth hole on the Falls Course at Tuscany Falls.
The hole played 158 yards from the white tee to a middle pin. Bill was in-between clubs so he decided to choke down on his 7-wood. The ball started right of the pin toward the sand trap. Bill yelled out, “Oh no, don’t go in there” thinking it would go into the sand. Fortunately, it carried the sand trap and bounced a little to the left toward the hole. The ball then disappeared from sight but it was unknown where it finished.
As Bill and his playing partner, Jim Bundschuh, drove up to the green, they did not see his ball on the green. Bill thought it might have gone over the green, so he walked in that direction. Meanwhile, Jim walked toward the left of the green to check out his own ball’s location. On the way he took a peek into the hole, looked up and said, “Your ball’s in here, Bill.” Definitely a “WOW” moment. Bill’s playing opponents Ken Feather and Dave Sabourin also shared the exciting moment.
Bill currently holds an 18-handicap. He took up golf when he and his wife LuJean moved to PebbleCreek in 2001. They had moved here from Edina, Minnesota. Before retiring, Bill was the Manager of Environmental Auditing for a public utility in Minnesota.
Making a hole-in-one is probably the single most exciting moment for a golfer. Even more so when it’s your first one ever! As it happened during a PCMGA event, Bill is now qualified to share in the hole-in-one prize fund which is usually about $2,000. Bill is the first PCMGA member to get a hole-in-one in 2018. We’re sure Bill is secretly hoping no one else gets one this year!
Congratulations, Bill!
