Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. How many times have you heard that expression? But have you ever heard it when referring to a hooked rug? An artist can interpret a work of art very differently and uniquely. That is one of the reasons that primitive rug hooking is so much fun and stimulating. It is hard to believe that each of these rugs are from the same pattern created by one of our members, Monika Jones.
This hobby allows the crafter to weave her own personality in the article. Choice of colors is often determined by the décor of existing home furnishings and tend to reflect hues favored by the artist. Finished pieces are truly unique and individualized. There is no “wrong way” in this craft and the possibilities are only limited by your own imagination and creativity.
Come and meet with our energetic and creative group members. The Rug Hookers meet every Monday afternoon from noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Fiber Arts (Diamondback) Room in the Creative Arts Center. For further information, contact our newly elected club president, Karen Bogadi, at [email protected] or phone her at 623-444-8748.
