After more than a year in the planning stages, the eight-member committee of Susan and Brian Gleason (co-chairmen), Sylvia Armstrong, Debby Bolton, Judy Caruthers, Charlene Romanos, Nancy Stifter, and Diane Walenda presented a delightful afternoon of art. With a change of venue, the Chianti Room in the Tuscany Falls clubhouse was transformed into a spectacular art gallery.
The annual event held on Nov. 10 was not only exciting but full of surprises. Introduced into the show this year were two new categories. Emerging Artist gave new artists a chance to present their art and be judged apart from those more accomplished. The Professional Excellence was not a category in itself, but allowed the judges to review all submissions to see if any artist showed professional excellence. Two club members were honored with this award, Gary Kotula and Curtis Patchin, and each received special show ribbons.
Another surprise was the raffle of four beautiful theme baskets containing an original piece of art, donated by Ron Shrum, Marielle Ramsey, Debby Bolton, and Diane Walenda.
The party-like atmosphere provided a fun-filled afternoon with many guests complimenting on how much they enjoyed the show and that they, indeed, were looking forward to the next Art Club event.
