The annual fall Art Show and Sale, held by the PebbleCreek Art Club on Nov. 12, was a monumental event and set records for attendance and sales.
The show was held in the ballroom of the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse, and the work of 49 of the Art Club’s artists was displayed. Pieces ranged from the massive Agave Softscape, a tryptic on three pieces of burnished aluminum, to small watercolors and sculpted 3D pieces. Media included acrylic, oil, colored pencil, watercolor, pastel, fiber clay, and mixed media.
A total of 675 guests attended the show between 3 and 7 p.m. Attendees received a complimentary glass of wine, and music was artfully woven into the viewing experience by the group Happy Hour, with blues, soft rock, and jazz selections played throughout the evening. The ballroom’s size allowed each work of art to be showcased so that guests could fully enjoy each piece.
The Art Club created seven versions of the 2022 calendar, which included all the art from the show, which were available for sale during the evening. Raffle tickets for five gorgeous gift baskets were also sold online and at the show. Each themed gift basket was accompanied by an original work of art created by one of the artists from the club, and winners were announced the next day.
One of the highlights of the show was the Special Challenge. The artists were presented with a theme for the show, with this year’s theme being Wild Thing, You Make My Heart Sing. Artists created wild beasts, wild birds, and wild flowers in the medium of their choice. This year’s first place winner was Debby Bolton’s Llarry the Llama, a captivating fiber clay sculpture with a whimsical smile. Other first place winners were Sylvia Armstrong in mixed media, Susan Gleason in watercolor, Diane Greeneich in pastel, Emily Grotta in oil, Gary Kotula in colored pencil, Loretta Pruett in acrylic, Diana Horton-Smith in fiber clay (3D), Curtis Patchin in the professional category, and Suzy Skolnik in the emerging artist category.
The Art Club wishes to thank the 675 guests who attended the show; Happy Hour trio for the wonderful music; our Gold Circle, Silver Circle, and Bronze Circle donors; and the many volunteers who sold tickets, helped to set up and dismantle the show, and worked behind the scenes to make this the most successful Art Show and Sale in the history of the PebbleCreek Art Club.
