On April 28, 140 golfers played in the seventh annual Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary Foundation Golf Tournament. Perfect weather, excellent course conditions, and 25 eager volunteers all came together to help create a very successful day.
The day started off with the always-popular golf ball drop and this year the $3,000 winner was a Rotary member from the Peoria North Club. The Goodyear Fire Department dropped 600 numbered golf balls onto the putting green at the Tuscany Falls Golf Club, and the winning golf ball dropped into the hole. In the past there have been as many as three winners. This year’s golf ball drop was sponsored by Donna Strand, Realty One Group.
This year Avondale Toyota was the main event sponsor, and they also supplied every golfer with a golf shirt this year. General Manager Kamal Charef is a longtime supporter of the Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary Foundation and said, “As a local, independent, family owned business in the West Valley, we deeply value the significance of community support. That’s why we take great pride in our partnership with the Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek Foundation, and we have actively contributed to various Rotary programs for a number of years.”
Other major sponsors included Sun Health as the platinum sponsor, Estrella Mountain Community College was the lunch sponsor, Argent Solar and West Valley Golf Cars were the golf carts sponsors, TLC Real Estate Team sponsored two beverage stations on the golf course, Jones Ford was the hole–in–one sponsor, and the registration sponsors included Meulenberg Law Office, Alden Meulenberg with Edward Jones, Goodyear Fire Department Charities, Wilhelm Auto Repair, Taylor Martin State Farm, and PMG Labels. The Most Accurate Drive and Closest to the Pin sponsors were Osborne Jewelers and the Cincinnati Reds. There were a whopping 28 hole and green sponsors this year.
This golf tournament is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary Foundation, and since 2018 they have donated $290,381 to several nonprofit organizations in the West Valley, books for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Polio Plus, Watts of Love, Title 1 student’s clothing and food, and clothing boxes for families in need in the West Valley.
