We had two beautiful days on February 16 and 17 for our PCLGA Senior’s Tournament. Our league of twelve ladies joined the AWGA organization in 1994 and over the years it has grown by leaps and bounds. There were a total of 114 ladies that played in the tournament this year. Many of our ladies that started this league are still playing and the Senior Tournament is the league’s way of honoring them.

The theme of the tournament was Diamonds in the Desert and each flight was assigned a color of diamond and was broken up by age groups. The play was flighted by handicap, but the Overall Gross and Overall Net Champions must be over 65.

A delicious luncheon was served in the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom with the tables all decorated with small and large diamonds. All of the ladies 75 and over each received a red long stemmed rose. Also recognized were Paula Fix, Harriet Quail, Bonnie Whittier and Marilyn Williams for being part of the pioneers of our league. They were each given a crystal paperweight in the shape of a diamond with our emblem imprinted on it. Carrie Hull was also presented the same gift for being our oldest living president and for her long term service.

Thank you to our pros for helping with all the scoring. Each flight paid three places in gross and net. Below are the first place winners in each flight.

Flight 1 (under 65) Low Gross – Sue Abercrombie Low Net – Sheri Sears

Flight 2 (under 65) Low Gross – Cheryl Skummer Low Net – Becky Rio

Flight 3 (65 to 74) Low Gross – Kittie Day Low Net – Ingried Sigovich

Flight 4 (65 to 74) Low Gross – Carolyn Suttles Low Net – Diana Wolf

Flight 5 (65 to 74) Low Gross – Diana Hull Low Net – Carole Kahler

Flight 6 (Over 75) Low Gross – Barbara Economou Low Net – Karin Smith

Special trophies and a standing ovation went to our Overall winners:

Low Gross Winner – Mary Falso also received $100

Low Net Winner – Elaine Carlson also received $50

Congratulations go to all the winners! Thank you, Geanie Aldridge and Chris DuPrey, for chairing two great days.
