“American Coyote – Still Wild at Heart” program October 5

Marge Ellison

Because of the importance of our PebbleCreek residents coexisting successfully with coyotes in our community, The Pet Companions Club of PebbleCreek has asked resident Linda Bolon, founder of Wildlife in Neighborhoods, to join us again at our Wednesday, October 5 meeting. We will meet at 3:00 p.m. in Room 100 of the Eagle’s Nest Activities Center.

In 2004, Linda Bolon and her husband moved to PebbleCreek from San Jose, California after 30 years. It was then that she became involved in coyote related issues when neighbors rallied for removing coyotes from the community resulting from conflicts with pets. As a direct result of these conflicts and a lack of community information about coyotes, Linda founded Wildlife in Neighborhoods. For the past 12 years the program has successfully reduced conflicts between people, pets and wildlife by providing accessible, useful and consistent information about coyotes and how we can coexist with our wildlife neighbors.

Linda will show a compelling 30-minute documentary film entitled American Coyote – Still Wild at Heart. This is a virtual case study of the coyote’s natural range expansion continent-wide, from northern California to Chicago to New York City’s Central Park and points in between. Ecologists and researchers will show us the remarkable adaptability and intelligence of this successful native carnivore.

Linda Bolon is the Arizona representative for the Project Coyote organization. She also works along with several wildlife organizations, such as Urban Wildlife Specialists within the Arizona Department of Game and Fish, to promote compassionate coexistence and how we can live more peacefully with our wild neighbors. Linda will answer your questions after the film.

All PebbleCreek residents, whether club members or not, are invited to attend this important and informative presentation. New residents to PebbleCreek are especially encouraged to attend. There is no charge.
