Alzheimer’s Support Group to Join Kare Bears

Teri Sellers

PebbleCreek Alzheimer’s Support Group is open to all residents who have a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia. We meet twice a month, a breakfast social and a support group meeting. Our goal is to provide support and information to families that are caring for a loved one with dementia.

For more than 12 years I have been facilitating the Alzheimer’s Support Group. It has truly been an honor and a privilege. But life goes on, and I will be moving back home to Tulsa, Okla., shortly.

It is very important to me that this group continue. This disease is so demanding and overwhelming for families. You need a safe place where you can share and learn to manage and succeed through this journey called Alzheimer’s.

The Kare Bears have also been very special to me as I have served on their board. In my effort to guarantee the continuation of this group, I talked with the current president of Kare Bears, Mai Nacht. She advised me that Kare Bears was looking into expanding their services to the residents of PebbleCreek and that our support group is a great fit.

I am more than confident that this group will thrive under Kare Bears leadership. I will be turning over the reins to Mai at the end of June.

Please mark your calendars to attend our regular monthly meeting on the third Saturday of every month. We will have a breakfast in June, but the group will take a break during the summer as Mai and her team get settled.

Saturday breakfast meetings are the first Saturday of the month. RSVP is mandatory. The support group meeting is held on the third Saturday and does not require a RSVP.

If you are not a member of our group, it is easy to join.

You are not alone. I want to share helpful resources and information with you and add you to our email list. Our support group is an excellent way to learn more about the journey that is dementia and a wonderful way to meet others who are going through the same journey as you. Your information is always safe and confidential. The benefits are priceless.
