Alzheimer’s Caregiver Discussion Group – March 21

Rayma Scalzo

Here at PebbleCreek we are extremely fortunate to have a wonderful discussion group which provides information, resources and comfort for those residents who are caring for loved ones who have Alzheimer’s disease. It is open to all caregivers who are caring for a loved one in the home, at a local care facility or out of state. The meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Bobby King of KM Advisory Group will be our guest speaker on Saturday, March 21. His topic of discussion will be how to handle the financial risks and concerns that families and spouses face in this very uncertain time with a common sense approach. He will speak about The Spousal Impoverishment Act, Proper Trust language and how to title your assets in order to protect the well spouse at home. Following the presentation and discussion we will have our sharing time when members address specific issues or concerns, etc.

We have another group, The Saturday Group that provides respite care for those having Alzheimer’s disease. It meets at a nearby location. This group allows the caregiver the opportunity and peace of mind to attend the discussion group. It is run by two PebbleCreek volunteers who have experience with Alzheimer’s disease. They want to make this time away as comfortable and stress free as possible. If your loved one is unable to participate in such a group, we may be able to arrange for someone to come to your house during the two hour meeting. Please RSVP by March 19 for either option.
