Alzheimer’s activities for caregivers and loved ones

Rayma Scalzo

PebbleCreek is fortunate to offer two special groups, one group for caregivers and another for loved ones having Alzheimer’s disease. Both groups meet at the same time at different locations. This month they will meet on Saturday, December 13 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The speaker this month is a representative from Moving You Simply. It is very stressful to downsize and move from your home with all those memories and possessions that have built up over a lifetime. Moving You Simply has the solutions to make this later in life transition as simply as 1-2-3.

The Saturday Group will meet at a nearby location. It is for those having Alzheimer’s disease. This group allows caregivers the opportunity and peace of mind to attend the Caregiver’s Discussion Group. Two wonderful PebbleCreek volunteers, who have experience with Alzheimer’s disease, run the group. Carol Smail, a retired nurse, has a business that works with seniors. It provides respite care for caregivers. Bert Miller assisted with a similar program for those having Alzheimer’s disease prior to her move to PebbleCreek. She also co-facilitated a monthly caregiver support group. Carol and Bert want to make this time away from a loved one as comfortable and stress free as possible. They plan on having activities and refreshments. An RSVP by December 11 is required in order for loved ones to participate in this special activity.
