The Aloha spirit was alive and well at our June dinner. Our members dressed in their finest Hawaiian themed attire, while Christina Arellano of Maverick Beverage Company introduced the group to a variety of wines from the Pacific Northwest.
Elk Cove Winery was featured from Oregon. Elk Cove Vineyards was founded in 1974 by Pat and Joe Campbell. Their winemaker son, Adam Campbell, joined forces with his parents in 1995 and Elk Cove remains proudly family owned. The Campbells’ goal has always been hand-crafted, Estate-grown cool climate wines that rival the best in the world.
Seven Hills Winery from Washington was also featured. Born to a farming family in Eastern Washington, founder Casey McClellan learned about agriculture at a young age. Later, Casey and his wife, Vicky, began to cultivate an interest in wine and developed a long-term vision to make wine from the family farm in Walla Walla Valley. As proprietors of one of the area’s first vineyards, the efforts of Seven Hills Winery have helped strengthen a community that values environmental stewardship to protect the future.
A sparkling rosé greeted our guests at reception. During the multi course, Flavors of Hawaii dinner, four wines were enjoyed. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon enhanced the taste of Ahi Poke Nachos, Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi, Huli-Huli Chicken, and Mango Cheesecake. Truly something for everyone.
The Wine Club does not take the summer off. August brings all things Italian! Sign up on the website from July 24 to Aug. 3. September is the return of member favorite, Caymus Winery. Sign up for that dinner will be Aug. 21 to Aug. 31. Going into fall, October is the very fun Halloween party. Remember to bring your own glass; there will be a plethora of wines to choose from. Sign up for that party from Sept. 18 to Sept. 28.
