The nineteenth annual Wisconsin Party was a great success. 183 people attended and had a lot of fun. Raffle tickets and 50-50 tickets were purchased with high hopes of winning. The card game gathered a lot of interest and the room full of people got very quiet (who would guess) as we got closer to the winning card. Three lucky card holders won $52 each.
Our emcee, Ken Cina, led the group in singing some patriotic songs to honor all of the veterans in the room. Pictures were taken in front of a beautiful World War I quilt made by our very own PebbleCreek Quilting ladies. $761 was collected and will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Project.
A big thank you to the caterers at Tuscany Ballroom; the food was delicious. And of course, we can’t forget the delicious dessert donated and served by the wonderful owners of the Culver’s in Avondale.
Thanks to my wonderful committee for making this a great party. Shelley Borreson did a great job with all the raffle baskets and the centerpieces with help from Joan Schmidt. Dan Borreson did a great job of keeping track of all the money coming in and going out. Trish and Pat Watkins, Ann and Jim Sulzer, Mary Flynn and Charlotte Norris all helped in their own special ways. Several volunteers helped the day of the event, Sue White, Sue Chute, Jackie Horton, Jerry White, Steve Jensen and Ivan and Mary Ann Pankov. Biggest thanks to our emcee for the great job of gathering patriotic background music and leading us in song. Getting everyone’s attention is harder than you think.
Next year will be even bigger and better since it will be our twentieth anniversary year. Past food favorites will be sure to appear (cheese curds and brats).
We are planning to have a video show with pictures to highlight previous years so anyone having any pictures, especially from those early years at Sunrise Park, please dig them out and get them to me. We are always looking for new volunteers to help with this event so please contact me, Pat Jensen, if you are interested. We start planning in September but you can help, even if you don’t arrive until January or later.
