For almost two decades, PebbleCreek Singles Club members have demonstrated a deep commitment to giving back to the community by supporting various charitable organizations. Beneficiaries of the club’s philanthropic endeavors have included the American Cancer Society, Agua Fria Food Bank, Battered Women’s Shelter, the Homeless Youth Connection (HYC) and, most recently, the Country Fighter Partnership Foundation at Luke Air Force Base.
Since 2012, the club has embraced the HYC with record setting fundraising efforts to support homeless high school age youth, helping to empower them to reach their full potential and to become successful, contributing members of the Goodyear and surrounding communities. In 2015 the PC Singles donated a total of $3,442 to the HYC, far surpassing its $2500 goal.
Extending its charitable arm in 2015, the PC Singles also collected $2,825 to help military families who may face unexpected emergencies, such as a house fire, deaths in the family that require out of state travel to attend funeral services, children’s illness and accidents and other financial crises. Donations also are used to help at holiday time to provide meals and gifts for families experiencing difficulties in life.
PC Singles Club President Judy Shaffer convinced the board of directors early in 2015 to have faith in the generosity of fellow singles and to set an unprecedented $5000 goal for the year’s Charitable Campaign. She was jubilant in announcing the final fundraising figures at the group’s final meeting of the year on December 6.
“I am so proud of all of you. Thank you so much for your generosity and overwhelming spirit of goodwill,” Judy told the large group in attendance.
The beneficiaries of the PC Singles Club’s annual charitable campaign are selected each year by a vote of the membership.
