On Veterans Day November 11, 2015 many residents of PebbleCreek were part of a truly patriotic program at the Renaissance Theatre. A program filled with gratitude for all the men and women who are serving or have served our country in the military. Beginning with the Arizona Sons of the American Revolution, the sold-out crowd at the Renaissance Theatre was inspired by the incredible Presentation of Colors by the group in their traditional uniforms. Marching to the beat of the Fife and Drum Corp accompaniment as they entered and exited the stage, this opening set the stage for a tremendous show to come.
No tribute to veterans would be fitting without the Pledge of Allegiance; this year it was led by retired Air Force Colonel and PebbleCreek Staffer Melissa Kallet followed by PebbleCreek’s own Pat Ingalls who sang a moving version of our National Anthem. Next Matt Scott, a member of the Arizona Sons of the American Revolution, continued the program with an endearing presentation about the Tomb of the Unknown Solider followed by an extremely entertaining song from Melissa Kallet that shared just what she does—and doesn’t—miss about not being in active service. Already roaring with laughter from Melissa’s song, the audience continued to roar, but this time singing along to each of the military songs as they were played. Closing the program was PebbleCreek’s own Chanca Morrell who sang a beautiful version of God Bless America. The spirit of gratitude was in the air as all who attended certainly recognized that it is indeed a privilege to give thanks and recognition to those who have served to preserve our freedom.
