Billiards Club Falls to CantaMia on Home Turf

Dan Harris, Travel Team Coordinator

On Aug. 7, the PebbleCreek Billiards Club (PCBC) hosted the CantaMia (CM) Billiards Club for another hard-fought morning of high-level 8-ball at PebbleCreek’s Salerno Billiards Room. Eager to avenge a loss suffered two weeks earlier at CM, PCBC tried their best but still watched CM sweep both matches and take the overall game count 28-20.

The opening match followed a round-robin format in which each of the four PCBC players faced each of the four CM players twice, producing 32 games. The sides traded racks throughout, yet CM steadily pulled ahead and closed out the match 18-14. James Fogerty paced CM with six wins in eight games, while Rene Lefebvre led PCBC by capturing five of his eight.

The second match switched to a ranked heads-up format. Players were paired according to their earlier results and contested four games each in the remaining time. CM again prevailed, this time 10-6. PCBC’s Don Moser and CM’s Fogerty each delivered perfect 4-0 performances to headline their respective sides.

The next contest is already scheduled, and PCBC will once again be looking to recapture bragging rights in the highly-contested yet friendly rivalry.
