Have you ever driven by the horseshoe pits located at Eagle’s Nest and wondered, “Does anybody use those courts?” or asked yourself, “How do you play horseshoes?” Well, wonder no more! Come on out and try them! Members of the PebbleCreek All-America Horseshoe Association (AHA) invite you to join the fun at the horseshoe courts on Thursday, November 12 at 10:30 in the morning. This fun event is for women and men!

Sunrise Park is on the Eagle’s Nest side at W. Robson Circle and W. Earll Drive.

At this session you’ll learn the rules of the game and be taught various pitching techniques and the principles associated with tossing the shoes. Experienced members of AHA will coach and encourage you during this orientation session. Please note that women horseshoers toss the shoes from a shorter distance, 27 feet, instead of the 37 feet that the men use. A variety of horseshoes will be available for use by those attending.

Following the orientation and practice session, participants are encouraged to stay and participate in a friendly competition. This way you’ll be able to experience actual play and begin developing your individual techniques and skills.

During the friendly competition, AHA members will tend each horseshoe pit, helping participants with their techniques, keeping score and maintaining the pits. Winners of each round will advance to the next level of play and hone their skills and techniques further.

For planning purposes, those interested in participating are encouraged to email their names and email addresses to Ted Ingalls at [email protected]. Should a friend not have the opportunity to RSVP, not to worry; have them come along too! Everyone attending will be warmly welcomed.
