At the May 3 singles meeting following the business portion we were pleased to introduce our guest speaker, Mary O’Neil, President of the Pet Companion Club. This is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Animal Rescue Organization whose mission is to provide a safe environment for the pets of PebbleCreek residents. They are dedicated to providing a safe environment for pets in our community which includes rescuing and rehabilitating stray, abused, and injured animals.
Veterinary bills are their biggest expense, and they rely on donations to continue doing what they do in the PebbleCreek community. Mary was very informative about various rescues and how members foster animals. Occasionally they have pets up for adoption. Sadly, the “Pet Rescues” that serves the west Phoenix area recently closed due to a lack of funding; the only alternative is in Phoenix. The City of Goodyear does not have an animal control department—the closest is Avondale and they will not come to Goodyear. The Pet Companion Club is the philanthropic project for the Singles Club. They serve our community exceptionally well and deserve PebbleCreek residents’ financial support.
