Save These Dates

PebbleCreek’s four performing arts clubs (PAC) have just wrapped up a very successful season of performances. Now that it is summer, you would think that they would be taking a well-earned break. But while many of you are enjoying traveling to cooler climates or getting into more summer-related activities, a small group of actors, singers, dancers, and musicians are hard at work preparing for the 2026-27 performing arts season.
The PAC members have some very exciting plans for the coming year, so mark your calendars with these performance dates.

As the curtain closes on “A Bit of Broadway,” the PebbleCreek Singers thanks the community for supporting choral music! The chorus will take a four-month hiatus until September when rehearsals for the holiday concert will begin.
A celebratory luncheon closes this season as we bid farewell to Jerry Drake, who will be retiring as the Singers’ choral director. We thank him for his tireless efforts and will enjoy having him return as a tenor in the chorus. Bev Griggs will become our Interim Director.
On July 1, we welcome a new Board of Directors for 2026-27.
Just in case you want to mark your calendars, the holiday concert dates are Dec. 2-5 with Dec. 5 possibly being a matinee. The matinee this spring was well attended.

Happy Anniversary to Open Mic Night!
Carrie Mataraza
It is hard to believe that an entire year has gone by since the first Open Mic Night show on May 12, 2025. The PebbleCreek club invites persons who sing, play an instrument, do magic or comedy, or have another performance talent, to step up to the mic and entertain the audience in a supportive atmosphere that is more intimate and informal than typically staged shows.
Singer Patti Hall, who lives in PebbleCreek, had the original concept for Open Mic and an inkling that her idea would become a popular attraction so she shared it with a few like-minded people. “To me, it seemed like having a venue and providing an opportunity for people with talent in the community to get in front of the microphone in a casual and welcoming environment was a good idea. With the help of a few friends who supported the idea as well, we were able to get the club approved and as they say, the rest is history.”
Open Mic Night began with shows in the Chianti Room in the Tuscany Clubhouse. The thinking was that with a summer audience the room could easily accommodate the attendance, but it soon became clear that the Chianti Room wouldn’t be able to hold the number of persons who wanted to see the shows. Publicity and word of mouth attracted larger audiences to the shows. Open Mic Night became an activity that residents wanted to attend and they did, bringing their neighbors, relatives, and visitors with them, filling the room to capacity.
As the year went on, it was obvious there was a need for a larger space. Over the winter the Eagle’s Nest Ballroom, able to accommodate a bigger crowd, became the place where both the audience and performers would be most comfortable. As it happened, the club drew a broad line-up of performers as well. Open Mic Night club had found its place in the ballroom and onto the calendars of an enthusiastic audience.
Club President Kathy Mitchell said, “People like performing for Open Mic. Unlike being in a stage show, the time commitment is less as there are few rehearsals compared to a few months of rehearsing for other types of shows. And we perform in a small venue where there is instant feedback, an energizing thing for the people behind the mic.”
Open Mic Night will continue throughout the summer with shows scheduled for the following Friday nights: June 19, July 24, Aug. 21, Sept. 18.
Please see the website for a list of dates for the rest of this year: sites.google.com/view/pebblecreekopenmic/home.
Also, check the website if you’d like to sign up to perform. Shows typically offer a line-up of 12 to 14 acts and each performer has about a 10-minute spot. There is so much talent in PebbleCreek—Open Mic Night is a very cool way to share yours.
Open Mic looks forward to hosting the “event of the month” for summer audiences. There is a $5 cover charge. Pay at the ballroom entrance door and get your hand stamped beginning at 5:30 p.m. for open seating. Shows begin at 6 p.m. Bring in food from the restaurant to enjoy during the show and enjoy the cash bar in back of the room.
See you there!
