PCMGA Holds U.S.VETS-Phoenix Benefit Tourney

A few flight winners mingle with U.S.Vets-Phoenix staff members at Sunrise Park

On March 5, the PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association (PCMGA) held a fundraising tournament with proceeds going to U.S.VETS-Phoenix. The event raised $8,192 for this worthy charity. Private donations were also made in person at the event in the amount of $2,483 for a total amount donated of $10,675!

A total of 64 four-man teams (maximum capacity) competed in this charity event. Flights 1, 4, and 6 played at Eagles Nest and Flights 2, 3, and 5 played the East course. The format was a scramble with a two-drive minimum for each player. The tees played were based on prior hole score.

After golf, players gathered at Sunrise Park (Eagles Nest side) for beer, sandwiches, and camaraderie. Four representatives of U.S.VETS-Phoenix were present to talk to the players about the work they do for this organization. They included Outreach Specialists Josh Young and Alex Alexander, After Case Manager Michael Bobo, and Income and Benefits Specialist Darryl Alexander.

Flight 11st place: Steve Batte, Keith Clinton, Kurt Eleam & Jim Mickelson; 2nd place: Mike Behrendt, Ken Gilles, Willy John & Bill Perkett; and 3rd place: Peter Estelle, Don Mayo, Robert Rochefort & Tom Scheel.

Flight 21st place: Bob Leclair, Brian Parent, Brian Rosenbloom & Phil Smyth; 2nd place: Dean Gulsvig, Tom Gulsvig, Kent Haupt & Eric Pearson; and 3rd place: Jeff Chambers, Jeff Dines, Marty Johnson & Jay Matthews.

Flight 31st place: Dennis Johnson, Monte Morgan, Chris Peterson & Tom Sandgren; 2nd place: Bruce Carlyle, Larry Dick, William Gray & Joe Little; and 3rd place: Richard Campbell, Bill Walenda, Rodney Wallace & Todd Young.

Flight 41st place: Will Antunes, John Nguyen, Vance Sather & John Tangney; 2nd place: Gary Bomar, Ian Downing, John Low & Richard Rivera; and 3rd place: Larry Burnson, Brad Johnston, Dave Korba & Dave Nester.

Flight 51st place: Mark Handzel, Richard A. Holbeck, Charlie Newcomer & Roger Voise; 2nd place: Merrick Blumenthal, Peter Carlson, Allen Carney & James Scoular; and 3rd place: John Barry, Randy Bowley, Mike Dinan & Wade Petersen.

Flight 61st place: Craig Hennesy, William McCabe, John Pannell & Barry Stauffer; 2nd place: Dave Brown, Marion Malnar, Terry Markus & Brad Walker; and 3rd place: Greg Harris, Kirk Harrison, Greg Peterson & Paul Polk.

The mission of U.S.VETS is the successful transition of military veterans and their families through the provision of housing, counseling, career development and comprehensive support. They believe that no man or woman who has served the United States of America should sleep on the streets. Their vision is to meet their needs in order to regain and maintain productive independence.
