The PebbleCreek Republican Club welcomed a large turnout of members and guests to its March 5 meeting for an evening of community fellowship, legislative updates, and discussion of key issues affecting Arizona. The meeting opened with a prayer honoring the nation’s military members and first responders, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Club leaders also recognized several local officials, candidates, and community leaders in attendance. The evening’s featured speaker was Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen, who is currently running for Arizona Attorney General.

During his presentation, Petersen spoke about his work in the Arizona Legislature and highlighted several issues he believes are critical to the future of the state, including public safety, immigration enforcement, election integrity, and protecting constitutional rights. A portion of his remarks focused on defending opportunities for female athletes in women’s sports. Petersen explained that he stepped in to defend Arizona law in court after the state’s attorney general declined to do so, saying he believes protecting fairness in women’s athletics is an important responsibility of state leadership. He also addressed election integrity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public confidence in the voting process. Petersen discussed efforts aimed at ensuring that only eligible citizens participate in Arizona elections and supporting safeguards such as voter identification and enforcement of election laws. Immigration and border security were also discussed. Petersen spoke about the need for stronger cooperation between state and federal law enforcement and emphasized policies aimed at controlling illegal immigration and addressing drug trafficking and crime connected to border activity.

Also speaking during the meeting was Greg Blackie, Deputy Director of Policy for the Arizona Free Enterprise Club, who provided a legislative update on several issues currently under consideration at the Arizona Capitol. Blackie discussed state tax policy, rising local government taxes and fees, energy costs, and proposed ballot initiatives. He encouraged residents to stay engaged in the legislative process and communicate with lawmakers about issues affecting Arizona taxpayers. Petersen later answered questions from attendees on topics including crime, immigration enforcement, election administration, and public safety. The evening concluded with appreciation for the volunteers who set up the room. The PebbleCreek Republican Club regularly hosts guest speakers and discussions designed to keep residents informed about state and local issues while encouraging civic participation within the community.
