PebbleCreek Art Club – April 2026

Sylvia Armstrong

Sylvia Armstrong, Spring Artist of the Season

I was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta Canada. After graduating with an associate degree in Business Administration, I worked for more than 20 years in the telecom industry. I lived during this time in both Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.

When my husband obtained a new job in Colorado, our family moved to the United States to Castle Rock. We loved our time there and raised our daughter, making many good friends and happy memories. I was heavily involved in volunteer positions with the Girl Scouts and still buy those Girl Scout cookies.

My interest in art did not bubble up until after retirement, when I attended a paint and sip event. I was hooked! I joined the local art guild and started taking courses, reading all I could to teach myself new skills in painting, and volunteering and participating in art events.

After moving to PebbleCreek, I was delighted that I could follow my passion full time. The Creative Arts Center was one of the main reasons I agreed to move, and the Art Club activities and painting have become the focus of my life in PebbleCreek.

I have spent almost six years volunteering on the Board of the PebbleCreek Art Club, two as vice president and nearly four as president. I have chaired the two Art Club shows each year, organizing the many details and promoting the work of our PebbleCreek artists.

I am an impressionistic artist. My artwork usually includes intense pigment. I dabble in all mediums but mostly concentrate on acrylic, mixed media and watercolor. Inspiration for my work originates from my travels, music, color and mostly my imagination. I hope everyone steps into my painting world and experiences their own emotions and interpretation of my work.

I have won many awards in both Colorado and Arizona in art shows and competitions and belong to several art organizations.

I have met so many great artistic people and enjoy their companionship and painting with them. I also belong to the Wine Club, Bocce Club, a book club, and Italian Clubso like every other Creeker, life is never dull! After having lived in PebbleCreek for over eight years, we love everything it has to offer.

April 21: Landscape with Rocks with Ann Osgood. After working with many acrylic painters this season and hearing their suggestions, Ann is adjusting her teaching accordingly. In this class, she will guide the class step-by-step and mixing colors for landscapes featuring rock formations.
