PCM9GA Announces Match Play Tournament Results

Erv Stein

Our PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) continued with our exciting fun-filled typical bi-monthly tournament events on a warm Feb. 26 Thursday afternoon, this time again holding the ever-popular Match Play format at our Tuscany East Course. About 137 eager PCM9GA golfers participated in the always competitive Match Format, which allows hole-by- hole, head-to-head golf play where the player with the lowest net score wins that hole. For the total of nine holes played by each two-golfer team, the golfer winning the greatest number of holes was declared the Match Play winner. Ties for individual holes were common and a few teams wound up deadlocked with identical tie scores. The Match Play format always adds to the competitive play excitement with often resulting clutch Birdie putt situations and so forth with momentum swings perhaps on every hole. Furthermore, roughly half of all participating golfers wind up Match Play winners which further adds to the tournament excitement intensity.

Kudos to all of our Match Play winners with a few of us winning a total of 5 holes:

Congratulations to our Closest to Pin/Longest Putt winners, which included Ray Clements, Bill Hill, Robert Stofac, and Don Burrows.

Following the event, a sizable number of our players convened at the Westwind Tavern patio area to relax, enjoy an aftergolf beer, and congratulate the many winners. Our PCM9GA just completed our annual Club Championship Tournament and Banquet on Feb. 12 and 19. Our highly anticipated Member-Guest Charity Tournament will be conducted on March 26 and March 27 and is expected to raise up to $20,000 to benefit the Luke Spouses Club Welfare Account charitable operations such as military dependent college scholarships and a myriad of additional community charitable contributions.

Our PCM9GA group, founded in 2005 and now in its 21st year of operation, has experienced exponential growth in recent months with its membership currently in excess of 400. We highly encourage prospective new PCM9GA members in our exceptional, fun-loving, low-key group of golfers to contact our membership chairman, Dusty Howard, at 805-218-6461.
