Steve Roseman and Allan McCormack Win Top PCM9GA Club Champion Awards

Erv Stein

The PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) conducted our annual highly anticipated Club Champion two-day event on Feb. 12 and 19 utilizing our Tuscany Falls East Course. Under exceptional late winter weather conditions, a total of 110 PCM9GA golfers participated in this exciting and highly competitive event divided into four groups: the A, B, C and D Flights. For some time now, our PCM9GA has been fortunate to have an extraordinary pairing committee to ensure a level playing field based upon each players prevailing AGA handicap, which allows every participant the chance to win an event.

As usual, the net and gross scores were extremely close with a mere couple of strokes separating the winning and runner-up golfers with a quite unusual number of ties and so forth. Congratulations to Steve Roseman for winning the Club Championship, coming in with a phenomenal 2 over Par 74. Equally extraordinary, Allan McCormack won the Low Net contest coming in with a terrific Net 67. As expected, the competitive excitement playing atmosphere prevailed for all 4 flights with a countless number of truly clutch final putts with countless momentum shifts

Following our first tournament play, most of our players gathered at the Westwind patio area to relax and enjoy refreshments and pitchers of beer. Festivities continued following our final Feb. 19 round where we all gathered and enjoyed a quite awesome Italian buffet at the Tuscany Ballroom, where winners were announced and photos of our Club Champions were taken.

Events such as this PCM9GA Championship event require a tremendous amount of planning and follow-through to ensure the great reception and success. In addition to the always excellent pairing group efforts by John Mazzukelly, Randy Vleck, and Bill Lansing, hats off to Peter Herman and Sy Rosenthal for arranging the pitchers of beer after our first round and likewise the excellent Italian buffet at our Feb. 19 banquet. Lastly, President John Craven and Ray Clements contributed substantially, and as usual we also received welcome assistance from our PebbleCreek Golf Director John McCahan and our golf pro Kyle Metzler.

At press time, planning efforts were proceeding full speed ahead for our Member-Guest Charity Tournament on March 26 and March 27, expected to raise up to $20,000 to benefit the Luke Spouses Club Welfare Account charitable operations such as military dependent college scholarships and a myriad of additional community charitable contributions.
