March Classes Focus on Food
Patricia Ingalls
The two March LifeLong Learning (LLL) classes (that still had openings at press time) demonstrate food preparation—one class for Neapolitan pizza and one for gluten-free living.
Each class begins at 1 p.m. For full details on March classes and to register, go to lifelonglearningatpc.org.
Making Neopolitan Pizza, March 10: PebbleCreek (PC) resident Gene Fioretti will demonstrate, in his home, how to prepare genuine Neapolitan pizza the way Italians traditionally do it. He will explain how to use a conventional oven, prepare the dough, form the pizzas for baking, and then bake them in his special pizza oven. Fioretti, a retired cardiologist, has been sharing his kitchen secrets with PebbleCreekers for more than eight years.
Living Gluten Free, March 12: PC resident Lois Chohon will explain the challenges of living with Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity, during her class in the LLL Center. The retired human-resource professional will discuss her journey to become gluten free and offer suggestions on how to navigate social situations, restaurants, buffets and weddings. She’ll also offer tips for easy substitutions in cooking, some basic easy recipes, as well as samples.
