On Super Bowl Sunday prior to the game, 27 members went to the TheaterWorks in Peoria and experienced the play “A Chorus Line,” a groundbreaking musical that explores the lives and struggles of Broadway dancers auditioning for a coveted spot in a chorus line, revealing their personal stories and aspirations.

The audition was led by Zach, a demanding director who puts the dancers through rigorous routines. As the audition progresses, Zach asks the dancers to reveal their personal stories, which leads to a mix of humorous and poignant moments. Each dancer, identified only by a number, shares their journey, including their motivations for dancing and the sacrifices they have made. It gave great insight to each of the cast members as the original 24 were eventually cut to final eight.

The narrative culminates Zach’s final selection of the dancers, leading to a celebratory performance of the song “One,” by the entire cast which symbolizes the unity and shared passion of the chorus line.

The finale was fantastic with high energy and brought the entire audience to give a standing ovation. After the show the cast were in the lobby to meet and greet. The photo with this article includes three cast members and the nine singles out of 31 who didn’t rush home for the Super Bowl.
