Susan Morgan from Painted Promise Ranch to Speak

Mary O’Neill, President

The Pet Companions Club of PebbleCreek is pleased to have Susan Morgan from Painted Promise Ranch in Wittman as guest speaker at our General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 4. We will meet at 3 p.m. in the courtyard of the Eagles Nest Activities Center. All PebbleCreek residents are invited to attend, whether club members or not. There is no charge.

Painted Promise Ranch was founded in 2002, when owner Susan Morgan and family moved from a half-acre in Phoenix out to five acres in Wittmann, giving the family enough room to begin rescuing miniature horses, and some ponies as well, along with donkeys both mini and standard. More than 50 equines passed through their ranch as rescues while their kids were growing up. After that, her husband became disabled, and their rescue focus then shifted from “direct” rescue to “referral” rescue. Susan continues to assist in finding homes for needy equines despite no longer being able to physically bring them home to the ranch.

Susan additionally discovered the opportunity for miniature equine therapy visits for residents of memory care and assisted living facilities. For a few years they also did pony rides for a special needs preschool in the east valley referred to them by a family friend. With the help of some wonderful volunteers, the therapy visits have continued for 19 years. “People always say how nice it is that I do these visits, but the reality is, sharing my minis is as much therapy and joy for me as it is for those we visit!”
