GOOD MORNING POOL PLAYERS! That actually works well if you can imagine Robin Williams’ voice intoning those words and remember the movie Good Morning, Vietnam—a favorite of mine. Anyway … I’m having a hard time believing that it’s been a year already and this article could be my last as our Billiards Club president. I do intend to run again for the position next year but … we are a democracy!
As I write this I am going over the to-do list I had for my presidency and while I wasn’t able to complete the list I feel the things we were able to accomplish helped make our club stronger. And, if our membership feels the same way they might give me a second term to finish up that list. The items that we were able to complete would not have been possible without the help of our members.
We wouldn’t have our club website or Facebook page without Joe Armbruster’s continually nagging me (kidding, just kidding) and his help getting it going. We went from paper table reservations to an online reservation system with the help of our club Secretary, Jim Padgitt. And now, we have a newer, easier–to–use version. Dan Harris has taken our travel team adventures to new heights and should we be successful in obtaining a few more tables after our transition, I can only guess how many more adventures he will plan for us. Keeping track of our ever–growing membership has kept our club Treasurer, Harold Erker, very busy and he’s running for that office again. Nice! I could go on and on but no matter who I mention I know I’d forget someone, so … I want to take this opportunity to thank ALL of our members for the help and encouragement they’ve given me this year. I literally couldn’t have done it without you!
We had many good times this past year and I am grateful for them all. I hope your holidays were magnificent and the upcoming year is your best one ever!
