PebbleCreek Singles Club Enjoy Lake Pleasant and Halloween

Ellie Daly

On Oct. 30, 18 singles carpooled from PebbleCreek to Lake Pleasant for a pre-Halloween, 90-minute narrative cruise on Lake Pleasant. Most members were in costume or a facsimile of one.

We dined at Dillon’s BBQ Restaurant located inside the marina to save money. Following lunch we boarded “The Phoenix,” a 150-passenger, twolevel boat for the 90-minute cruise circling the lake. The second level was an open-air deck with ample seating and great viewing. The first level was enclosed, air-conditioned with windows for great viewing and a bar with snacks and the only two heads (bathrooms) on board.

The narration was very informative, and we were lucky to see one of the 200plus donkeys that reside in the area surrounding the lake. They were left behind by the gold prospectors when the gold ran out.

Other wildlife include: javelinas, snakes, a variety of birds, and a sanctuary for nesting American eagles. The lake is also filled with abundance of fish enjoyed by many local fishermen. It’s a haven for boating and swimming.
