On Oct. 24, the CantaMia (CM) and PebbleCreek Billiards Clubs (PCBC) held friendly contests at both locations. Four players from CM traveled to PebbleCreek, and four players from PebbleCreek traveled to CM, making for an exciting day of 8-ball.
Both venues followed the same format: The first match consisted of a one-on-one series, with each of PCBC’s four players facing CM’s four players twice, for a total of 32 games. The second match featured a “ranked heads up” competition, pairing players based on their number of wins in the first match, for the remaining time allowed.
CM won three out of four matches, securing 53 games to PCBC’s 43.
At PebbleCreek:
PCBC stormed to an early 11-3 lead in the first match, but CM mounted a strong comeback, narrowing the gap to a final score of 18-14 in PCBC’s favor. PCBC’s Don Moser and Dan Harris led all players on both teams by each winning five of their eight games.
In the second match, with only enough time for 12 games, CM carried their momentum forward and won 8-4. A highlight for PCBC, however, was 94-year-old Clay Beeson winning all his games, earning admiration from all!
At CantaMia:
CM dominated the first match by a score of 20 to 12 in a chilly billiards room. The cold didn’t affect PCBC’s Bill Frustaglia, however, as he won five of eight games.
The second match, spanning 20 games, was a close contest, with CM edging out PCBC 11-9. Frustaglia continued his red-hot ways, securing four of five games for PCBC.
Everybody had a great time, and all look forward to a rematch next month!
