Ella was rescued on Oct. 8, 2025, on Sarival. She was spotted lying against the outside wall of PebbleCreek by our bird rescuer, Cathy Countryman Cook.
Ella had been chased by well-meaning people who were trying to help her, but she was terrified and ran. Cathy and Mary set a humane trap at the location where the dog was seen twice. Dogs who are dumped will often return to the spot where they were dumped, waiting for their owners to return. At 8 a.m. the next morning, Ella was found in the trap.
Ella is only 1 year old, and in good health, but has already had a litter of puppies. Ella was put into foster care with Kathleen Brown. Ella had never worn a harness or walked on a leash. We believe that she was kept crated and only allowed out once a day to go potty. She is a timid dog but is making great strides! Her foster brother, Kathy’s dog Vinny, has given her lessons in how to be a dog, walk on a leash, and feel safe.
She received vaccines and was spayed. Ella’s foster parents found that she just fit perfectly into their family, and they couldn’t bear to give her up! She is now a permanent resident of PebbleCreek!
Ella is a reminder to never chase a stray dog. They will go into panic mode and will only continue to run.
Ella is also an excellent example of why your tax-deductible donations to our club are vital. We need those donations to pay the veterinarian bills for our rescued cats and dogs.
