It’s January, aren’t you tired of sitting inside, can’t go outside with Jack Frost nipping at your nose … Oh wait! We are in Arizona! Never mind, so why not try woodcarving? The club is offering a beginners class, carving a spoon, beginning Jan. 6. The cost of the class is $15 and you do not have to join the Woodcarvers club to take the class. The class is four sessions from 1 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 6, 8, 13, and 15. The carver may use a micro-motor or knives. Tools and materials are provided by the club.
Come into the Quail room and sign up (except Thursday mornings, we do not have the room). The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. Just ask and someone will be willing to provide assistance. The class is limited to eight (8) students. Should one find carving interesting, a second beginners class carving a stylized kachina is scheduled in February. In the kachina class you continue to develop carving skills, and wood burning and painting are introduced.
