Due to annual reseeding related closures of PebbleCreek golf courses in October, our PCM9GA typically conducts two or three off-site events every fall. On Oct. 1, our first off-site tournament was held at the beautiful yet quite challenging Verrado Founders golf course. Located in Buckeye, this course truly offers simply stunning scenery with spectacular untouched desert views amidst ancient saguaros and by far is the finest course in the entire West Valley.
A total of 60 enthusiastic and eager PCM9GA golfers and guests participated in the shotgun tournament format in which the best shot from each foursome team member was used for the opening drive as well as each succeeding shot. Considering the fact that the gross team score was the basis for scoring, amazingly enough, 15 of the 16 participating foursomes, divided into Flights 1 and 2, attained under Par gross scores ranging from 10 under Par to 3 under Par, which reflects remarkably well regarding the participating PCM9GA golfers’ golfing play level. The competition was very close with only 3 strokes separating the first place and fifth place team.
Hats off to the winning foursome—Randy Cheek, Kirby VanNote, Dave Rookstool, and David Robertson—that attained a quite extraordinary 10 under Par and gross team score of 62. Right behind, the second-place team consisting of Bill Hill, Bill Lansing, Bill Marcum, and Steve Roseman scored a 9 under Par and gross 63 result.

Following the event, an enjoyable luncheon banquet was held at the Verrado Grill with winners being congratulated and team prizes announced and awarded. Our special well-deserved appreciation is noted to several PCM9GA committee members for their tremendous efforts and results in coordinating this event, including John Craven, Bill Lansing, John Mazukelly, Kerry Walsh, Peter Herman, and several others including the Verrado Golf Operations. Our next off–site event was the Coyote Lakes outing on Oct. 24. Upcoming events include the Nov. 13 Veterans event, the Nov. 20 Welcome Back Snowbirds tournament, and our Dec. 18 Holiday Mixer and Banquet Tourney.
