Our PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) group, still with many of our snowbird members absent, conducted a most interesting once a year “Beat-the-Pros” Tournament on Sept. 25 at Tuscany Falls East. This event allows PCM9GA members to directly compete on a level playing field with our highly skilled and talented Pro Staff consisting of Ronnie Decker, Kyle Metzler, Dennis Douglas, and John McCahan, PebbleCreek Director of Golf. The “Beat the Pros” tournament format is often commonly deployed where highly skilled professional golfers directly compete against regular golfers of various skill sets. While our PCM9GA competing teams’ scoring was based upon the net group score, best shot of each team member used, the Pro Team score is based upon the actual gross unadjusted score. As usual the PCM9GA pairing team, this time coordinated by Steve Schwartz, once again did their pairing magic resulting in a mere 6 strokes separating the winning and last place team score.
Kudos are in order for the first-place team consisting of Ronald Kundinger, Guy DeCosterd, Peter Herman, and Kerry Walsh that attained an outstanding 9 under Par net team score of 27. While this terrific 1st place PCM9GA team score did not beat the Pro Team gross score of Nine under Par is still a proud accomplishment competing against the highly talented PebbleCreek Pro staff team.
Scores of leading teams listed as follows:
1st Place: Ronald Kundinger, Guy DeCosterd, Peter Herman, Kerry Walsh; -9 to Par Net, 27 Total Net
2nd Place: Wayne Tripp, John Ward, Jerry Largie, Josh Jackson; -8 to Par Net, 28 Total Net
3rd Place: Ray Bender, Steve Schwartz, Dan Walla, Rene Lefebvre; -7 to Par Net, 29 Total Net
Following the event, all participants and our PebbleCreek Pro Team staff convened at the Chanti Room and enjoyed a great buffet breakfast and the event winners were announced and congratulated. Our thanks to the event coordinator Steve Schwartz and other highly contributing PCM9GA team members, and also our remarkable PebbleCreek Pro Staff for making this event a huge success.
With all our PC Golf Courses closed for the annual October reseeding, our two forthcoming off-site events included the Oct. 1 Verrado event and the Oct. 25 Coyote Lakes Tournament. Remaining events for the year will include our Nov. 13 Veterans event followed by the Nov. 20 Welcome Back Snowbirds Tournament and finally our Dec. 18 Holiday Mixer and Banquet Tourney. Our PCM9GA group, founded in 2005 and now in its 21st year of operation, has grown by leaps and bounds with a current membership at 407. We highly encourage prospective PCM9GA members interested in joining our exceptional, fun-loving, low-key group of golfers to contact our membership chairman, Dusty Howard, at 805-218-6461.
