In June, members of Chapters P and Q at PebbleCreek and Chapter J in Tucson delivered 14 smiling fourth-grade girls to campgrounds across Arizona, including Shadow Rim Ranch near Payson, Willow Springs in Prescott, and local Girl Scouts Day camps. These campers were sponsored by women who believe every young girl should have the opportunity to benefit from summer camp. A week of camp activities and new friendships help the girls enjoy new experiences while building leadership skills and positive decision-making skills.
Selected through school counselor recommendations, each camper receives full support from the sponsoring chapter, which raises funds and accepts donations to provide everything needed for an enriching week outdoors. In addition to camp fees and transportation, the organization provides clothes, sleeping bags, toiletries, and other essentials—ensuring every girl arrives confident and prepared.
“This summer experience can make such a difference for the girls,” said Christy Zemke, Western Area Project Board Chair and current Chapter P President. “When we pick them up after their week at camp and see their smiles, we know all our hard work was worth every minute. We all enjoy meeting the girls and staying in touch with them as they grow up.”
The National T.T.T. Society—Camping for Girls makes a difference in the self-confidence, self-esteem, leadership skills, and life choices of young girls by providing a no-cost camp experience. Since its founding in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, in 1911, the organization has sent thousands of girls to camp. All funds raised by members are used to provide the summer camp experiences. A special thank you to our supporters at PebbleCreek.
