Our PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) group, even without our numerous absent snowbird members and our ever-sizzling Arizona heat, continued our active summer event schedule and 50 players participated in our Aug. 14 Lucky 4’s 3 Low Net Tournament, which was particularly well received. Our pairing group continues to offer a myriad of often quite intriguing tournament formats. This event was no exception since the 3 low net formats utilizing the best 3 net team scores for each hole was modified to include scoring only for the five Par 4 holes for the 9-hole event. To add even more variety, the Golf Skin Contest Format was also deployed where the best individual net score of the foursome for each hole was awarded the Skin Prize. As a result, some golfers depending on their prevailing AGA handicaps actually obtained net Eagles and Birdies based on their individual net stroke total.
As always, the competition was extremely close and for both the Red and White Flights. Just a few strokes separated the top winning teams from the others. Kudos to the top performing winning low-net teams as well as the Golf Skin Winners and Closest to Pin and Longest Putt Winners as follows:
White Flight
1st Place Team: Dave Savage, Ray Clements, Bob Brett, Lloyd Garner; Net to Par -4, Total 56
2nd Place Team: Keith Anolick, Guy DeCosterd, Mike Branham, Ray Bender; Net to Par -3, Total 57
3rd Place Team: Joseph Oliver, John Mazzukelly, Peter Kirby, Peter Herman; Net to Par -1, Total 59

2nd Place Team: Chuck Buster, Lary Burnson, Duane Scott, Bill Wagner; Net to Par -2, Total 58
3rd Place Team: Kevin Wescott, Albert Williams, Ernie Coudert; Net to Par -2, Total 58

Following the event, our group enjoyed an excellent brunch barbeque at the Oasis Pool where the winners were announced and congratulated. A number of members contributed to the excellent success of this event, which included Bill Lansing for his excellent pairing efforts, Ray Clements for his one-of-a–kind tournament format variations, and also Peter Herman, Sy Rosenthal, and Ron Froemming for their superb culinary barbeque skills. Our PCM9GA exciting activities continued full speed ahead with our Sept. 11 Goofy Golf event and Sept. 25 Beat the Pros event. We also have our off-premises Verrado, Coyote Lakes, and Top Golf events. The PCM9GA group, in its 21st year of operations, now has about 407 or more members. We highly encourage prospective PCM9GA members wishing to join our exceptional, fun-loving, and low-key group of golfers to contact our membership chairmen, Tim Munson at 503-460-7618 or Dusty Howard at 805-218-6461.
