The PebbleCreek Men’s Nine-Hole Golf Association (PCM9GA) group, one of the four PebbleCreek operating major golf organizations, is now in its 21st year of operations and continues to offer an active event schedule. Our weekly 9-hole outings for the summer months start at 7:30 a.m. to offset our torrid summer day time temperatures. Typically, we schedule two tournaments per month and our event held on Aug. 28 at the front nine of our Eagle’s Nest course utilized the 2–Low Net format. Our PCM9GA participating golfers surely are never bored with the format of our tournaments since our most imaginative pairing group continues to offer a never-ending variation of established golf tournament formats. The 2-Low Net format proved to be an exciting competitive event. The 2-Low Net format utilizes the two best net scores of each foursome with net score adjustments based upon the prevailing established AGA handicaps of each team member. As with other golf tournament formats, while only two scores of the four team members contribute to the team scores for each hole, each golfer is motivated to go the extra mile to offer their group the best chance of winning.
Not at all surprising, the competition was so very close and two foursomes wound up with identical net scores of 27 (9 under par) and there was a mere seven-stroke difference between the winning and last place teams. Kudos to the winning teams and Closest to Pin winners as follows:
Winning Foursome Teams
1st Place: Dave Golden, Peter Herman, Alan McCormack, David Robertson; -9 to Par, Total Net 27
2nd Place: Joe Oliver, Mike Branham, Doug Wainright, John Platek; -9 to Par, Total Net 27
3rd Place: Bob Brett, Mike Adkins, Bob Slazman, Ernie Coudert; -6 to Par, Total Net 30
Closest To Pin Winners: Alan McCormack, Ron Whiteley, Bill Fenster, Steve Roseman
Following the event, many of us gathered at the Eagle’s Nest bar and restaurant area for a chance to cool off, relax, discuss the event results, and congratulate the winners. Hats off to Randy Vlcek for his efforts and the entire PCM9GA pairing staff for facilitating this excellent event. With the annual fall overseeding operations for our three PebbleCreek golf courses almost upon us, our summer closing event schedule concluded with our always exciting Sept. 11 Goofy Golf Tournament and our Sept. 25 Beat the Pros event. Our annual off-site PCM9GA events will include the Verrado Course on Oct. 1, Top Golf on Oct. 20, and Coyote Lakes on Oct. 24. The PCM9GA membership role currently is approximately at 408.
