Unit Happenings – September 2025

Unit 20 Ladies’ Lunch

Peggy Pase

The ladies of Unit 20 had lunch together on July 15 at The Stillery, located in Goodyear Square. It’s always a good time enjoying lunch specials and talking with each other. We look forward to our next lunch at Macayos!

Happy Group for Unit 46’s Happy Hour

Spike Razem

Competing for the largest, happiest PebbleCreek Unit group gathering of the summer, Unit 46 wins by a landslide!

On July 24, there were 32 happy neighbors who turned out for our Monthly Happy Hour. We were told to grab a drink at the Eagle’s Nest bar and gather in the back alcove area of the restaurant. It ultimately resulted in a fun chance to catch up with each other’s happenings, and especially a perfect opportunity to meet some of our new neighbors, many of whom were attending their first Unit 46 event. As more beverages were consumed, excellent conversations developed, and amazingly our group got louder and happier. A big thanks to Vicky Ferraresi and Susan Gildea for arranging this successful and very enjoyable event.

And, we recently received more good news!

Based on Vicky’s good efforts, the Unit 46 Neighborhood Group has applied to the HOA and has been granted status as an official PebbleCreek club. Now we’re all “members” and allowed to reserve rooms for club activitiesHooray!

So, our first official club event was a game night in the Capri Room on Aug. 22 as organized by Carey Early. Bunco will be featured and played by both “regulars” and “newbies,” and poses to be the start of many more Monthly Game Nights to come.

The Happy residents of Unit 46 continue their Happy ways!

Unit 49A Luncheon

Robin Macik

Twelve ladies from Unit 49A braved the summer heat to enjoy a luncheon at The Stillery. Many of us hadn’t seen each other during the summer so there was a lot to catch up on. September’s luncheon will be at Haymakers, and hopefully some of our snowbird ladies will be back to join us.

Unit 58 Trivia Team “Crushes It”

Maybe you didn’t know it, but there’s a trivia contest held every Monday evening at 6 p.m. at the Westwind Tavern. And on the evening of July 28 the Unit 58 Trivia Team (The ‘58ers) might have set a record for the most points earned in a single event. We do know, however, that the right answers are sometimes just lucky guesses, but we outscored our nearest rival by a wide margin this time.

Looking at our photo you can see that we’re all great looking. But until now, no one realized what sharp minds we must have. For example, we knew that, of the three countries in Africa having four-letter names, the ones other than Chad are Mali and Togo. Try that one on for size.

Seemingly our pooled collection of meaningless knowledge has no bounds. We are much too modest to go on from here, but maybe we’ll see you next Monday!

Unit 58 July Men’s Breakfast

Ed Raker

On July 28, the Men’s Breakfast group from Unit 58 got together once again, this event held at T.J.’s Homestyle Restaurant in Avondale. Calling it “Homestyle” is an apt name. It seems that you can order your food in many variations, to enjoy it exactly as you like it. Nobody ordered the “Mini Bennie” this time, so we all need to wait until we go back there to see what that is.

As often happens in our sessions, spontaneous laughter sometimes erupts from our group, drawing looks of disdain from people nearby. But even more likely, those same people are laughing right along with us.

As you can see in the picture, there were 10 of us. There were 11 who said they would attend but do you think that we remember everything, when you look at those faces? Apologies must go out to Tom Kearsley, in the lower left corner with only half of his face shown. But that’s probably his good side, and our charming server, Susan, is a better waitress than she is a photographer. Next it was on to August and more fun.

Unit 61 Collects School Supplies

Adrianne Beck

This July as teachers and students prepared for a new school year, Unit 61 residents collected supplies for 4th grade teachers at Litchfield Elementary School. The teachers were very appreciative of the Unit’s generous donation.

Cooling Down for July’s Unit 62A Happy Hour

Toni Erickson

On July 10, neighbors of Unit 62A had planned to gather at the Oasis Pool for the monthly happy hour. However, with temperatures soaring between 109 and 114 degrees, the group opted to move the event indoors. Instead, they enjoyed each other’s company—and the cool comfort of air conditioning—at Oregano’s. Those attending in the “cool” environment were, from left to right: Judy Meservey, Dale Scanlon, Jim and Barb Downey, Tim Scanlon, Lynn Banks, Steve and Pat Gonzales, and Bruce Banks.
