Kathy Mitchell said it best while being the Master of Ceremonies at a recent Open Mic night: “Open Mic is like a box of chocolates—you never know what you’re going to get!”
So true! Every Open Mic has brought surprise, delight, and absolute admiration for the talent within our very own PebbleCreek community.
We’ve been blown away by the performances of our friends and neighbors in the last month (since the deadline for this article). The comedy from Elysa Luick, Dave Wattenberg, Melissa Kallet, Bob Young, Debra Hennessy, and Terry Harlin had us laughing all night. Original writing by Karen Robbins and Marsha Macy offered moments of deep reflection and creativity.
Then, of course, there’s the MUSIC!
Daniel Krause and Karen Peterson raised the roof with their keyboard performances. Pastor Nick and Rocio Watkins captivated us with moving vocals and keys that truly touched the soul. Gary Kotula seamlessly joined many acts with his smooth voice, humor, and skill on bass.
We’ve also been treated to outstanding performances from Vinny and Sandee Coppola, Don Mayo, Gene Fioretti, Greg Goss, Steve Jensen, Becky Trimble, Joe Volstromer, Edward “The Duke of Uke” DeFord, Dave Silverstein, Jim Sykes, Anthony Hurwitz, Carl Halladay, Deb Stephan, Alan Hoxie, Jim Ramberg, Leslie Henson, Gary Weaver, Greg Davis, and Wayne Danka—each one bringing something unforgettable to the stage.
There isn’t enough ink on the press to print the rave reviews these performers deserve. Thank you all for sharing your gifts and making Open Mic nights a true highlight in PebbleCreek. We extend a big thank you to all the spectators that come to support their neighbors and friends and enjoy a night out in our wonderful community.
