PebbleCreek Community Church (PCCC) will welcome Dr. Allan Sawyer on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, as our Moments for Missions speaker. Dr. Sawyer is well known for his work volunteering in many countries around the world with Samaritan’s Purse World Medical Missions as an OB/GYN surgeon. He delivers babies and performs women’s corrective surgeries. He is also a teaching doctor in many of the hospitals he serves.
Dr. Sawyer will be sharing his recent experience working at the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Heal Our Patriots (OHOP) Camp in Alaska. His wife Teresa is also an integral part of the operation. She assists Dr. Sawyer in setting up the medical clinic for the Camp each year and helps wherever else she can. Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse, states that when combat veterans come to Samaritan Lodge Alaska, they carry both physical and emotional scars from wartime deployments, serious injuries, the haunting trauma of battle, and the fallout from lengthy periods of separation that can stress a marriage to the brink. At OHOP Camp Alaska, Samaritan’s Purse provides ministry to the unique needs of wounded military personnel and their spouses as they share the hope of the Lord.
The cost to Samaritan’s Purse is $6,000 per couple to host them for one week at the Alaska Camp. Couples who have attended the OHOP Alaska Camp in the past receive, in their home areas, follow–up contact and continuing support that started at the camp.
The PCCC Missions Committee is planning to fund at least one couple for the next camp season. Come and learn more about the wonderful work Operation Heal Our Patriots does to help our military personnel adjust to their lives together after long separations and wartime issues.
