Just Folks Celebrates Juneteenth 2025

Arlene Banfield

With a nod to the ancestors, the Just Folks Club commemorated Juneteenth, the day slaves learned of their freedom in 1865; two years after it was declared. Gathered at Eagles Nest, the celebration began with a parade of cars, decorated with flags and banners, driving slowly up Clubhouse Drive to Tuscany, meeting with other celebrants at Westwind Tavern for a social hour. From Westwind, some members of the group proceeded to the Goodyear Recreation Center to continue the day’s celebration at the City’s annual Juneteenth event.

More to come! Our next Just Folks event will be the Fish Fry in October. Details will be forthcoming soon on this and year-end activities.
