Hey there ladies and gentlemen and all the ships at sea! That phrase “all the ships at sea,” as all of you I’m sure remember, belonged to radio broadcaster Walter Winchell. It was an inclusive way of greeting everyone listening. The phrase also included a sense of uncertainty as being “at sea” meant being disoriented or confused.
I mention that because in one week no less than three individuals contacted us about the codes on the Billiard Club’s online reservation system.
OC: Open Class either an 8-ball, 9-ball, or 10-ball tournament restricted to club members only of any skill level.
BC: Tournaments restricted to B class players ONLY; no A members.
SD: Scotch Doubles A and B class members only playing 8-ball in 2 man teams, in which each team member takes turns shooting. A very unique way to play!
Drop In: Open to members and guests, basically anyone—two days, Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. It is 8-ball 2–man teams potluck draw for partners—come on down and give it a try.
Ladies Drop In: Members and guests, again, basically any woman—Saturday noon to 2 p.m. Great group of ladies. Check it out—you won’t regret it.
Two letter reservations like JP or MS or JB are private groups who have had these dates and times for a long period of time. Some of these groups are large, some are small. If you cannot find an open time that fits your schedule I would suggest going to the pool room and asking if they have room for another player. You might find a new group of friends!
Reservations with a first and last name are mostly one–time reservations that may or may not turn into permanent ones. Show us that your group will show up on that day and time every week and our admins Jim Padgitt and Blair Dreyfus could make it permanent. Just ask!
That’s it! Not too difficult, confusing, or disorienting—I hope!
