Sewing Club: Colorful, Creative, Caring

Lisa Reichert

On June 4, several members of the PebbleCreek Sewing Club gathered in a spirit of service and camaraderie to cut 44 yards of colorful fabric, marking the start of a charitable project aimed at supporting menstrual health for students across Arizona.

The fabric will be handed off to the Women’s Giving Circle, a PebbleCreek philanthropic group that will organize volunteers to sew the material into 200 sturdy cloth bags. Once completed, each bag will be filled with essential menstrual hygiene products and distributed through Go With the Flow, a nonprofit organization focused on period equity.

Founded to address the gap in access to menstrual supplies in schools, Go With the Flow has distributed more than 50,000 “period packs” to students in Tucson, Phoenix, and surrounding areas. Each pack includes tampons, pads, and panty liners, available discreetly through designated school staff members.

The PebbleCreek Sewing Club frequently contributes to community service efforts, with members meeting monthly to work on various charitable sewing projects. Their involvement in this initiative reflects their ongoing commitment to making a positive impact.
