Quilters Learn About Quilt Show Judging

Cynthia Schwartz

Phyllis Morrow, 1st Vice President of the PebbleCreek Quilt Organization (PCQ), was the featured speaker at a recent PCQ meeting. Members had a unique opportunity to learn from Phyllis, an expert quilter, on what judges look for at juried quilt shows. Phyllis commented, “I have enjoyed my life as a quilter. I worked for Road to California Quilters Conference for 14 years as an exhibit manager for all the quilts.” At the meeting Phyllis was presented with three quilts and was asked to critique the quilts, focusing on pattern, fabric choice, sewing technique, quilting design, and binding. We thank Phyllis for sharing her knowledge about which quilts will take home a blue ribbon!

PebbleCreek Quilters is an inclusive group of residents, from novice to advanced, who love to sew, quilt, and share their skills and talents. We offer classes and workshops and support local charities. If you have an interest in quilting, helping others through quilting, or socializing with other quilters, we welcome you. Our annual dues include access to all classes and use of the facility and quilting equipment. To join, visit our website at pebblecreekquilters.org or call Barbara McMahon at 412-979-8562.
