Congratulations to June’s Ceramic Club Featured Artist, Florence (Flo) Blum. Flo began her time in PebbleCreek as a snowbird in 2018 when she and her husband, Rick, bought a villa near the Oasis Pool. Flo and Rick had become familiar with PebbleCreek when Rick worked as a loan officer. They visited a Robson community in Denton, Texas, and loved the lifestyle. They found Texas too much like St. Louis as they were looking for a new and different adventure. After they visited PebbleCreek, their daughter said, “If you live there, you’ll never leave.” That is exactly what they were looking for!

In a previous home in St. Louis, Flo and her family loved swimming in the pool. But here in PebbleCreek it’s even more enjoyable as they don’t need to maintain it at all. Just a stone’s throw away from their Villa they can enjoy the PebbleCreek lifestyle.

Flo has a son, Brian, who lives in St. Louis and a daughter, Angela, who resides in Dallas. In 2024 Flo and Rick moved to PebbleCreek full-time. They drove a 26-foot U-Haul truck combining two residences into their villa here. It was a lot of work, but they are so happy they did it!

Flo joined the Ceramics Club hoping to learn some artistic creativity along with gaining many new friendships. “I’m still rather new in Ceramics trying to learn some of the many techniques! I was not sure how the club would be for a person who is deaf. Everyone has been very helpful and supportive from my fellow club members to the instructors and guest instructors who share the creative styles they have learned over the years.” Flo feels very welcome in the Ceramics Club. It is a good club for people to get involved with in the PebbleCreek community. Flo is also involved in many other ways here in PebbleCreek including monthly bunco, bocce ball, and Wii bowling leagues, and playing games like Mexican Train, Sequence, and many, many card games with friends on the Tuscany and the Eagles Nest sides.

Flo advises others not to be afraid to learn new crafts. She really looks forward to learning more in Ceramics and trying many new and exciting ceramic styles. She’s just getting started!
