I was thrilled to learn that my picture book, I Love You More Than Candy Pops, is a finalist in the 37th Annual Awards for the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA). As of the writing of this article, the winners are scheduled to be announced at an awards banquet in St. Paul, Minn., on May 16, where they will announce one gold and two silvers in each of the 55 book categories. I first wrote this book 40 years ago for my four young sons, although the text is much different and the book is more beautiful than I ever imagined because of the adorable animal illustrations by Rachael Downey. I am both the author and publisher of Hide and Seek Press.
My drawing book, Shoe Print Art Step Into Drawing, received the gold medal in 2013 where it was announced in New York City. It was for a publisher’s first book. Shoe Print Art has now received four awards.
