PC Singers prepare for new season
Donna Swagger
New season, new songs, new singers! That’s what’s happening with the PebbleCreek Singers.
New season: The chorus launched their new season on August 10 when rehearsals resumed after the summer break and Director Gail Kennedy presented the selections for the 2015 Christmas program. Nods of approval, lots of smiles and a few oohs and aahs indicated that the choristers were excited and pleased with the repertoire! After the initial run through of all the songs, the Singers know it’s time to get down to the nitty-gritty! Over the next three months they will learn the notes, rhythms and accents for each song, as well as memorize several numbers. They will practice diligently in order to be concert-ready!
New songs: The new music for the Christmas concert is a delightful mixture of songs of the season guaranteed to create a heart-warming holiday mood. Opening with It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, the concert continues with new arrangements of some old holiday favorites, beautiful sacred numbers, some novelty pieces and a lush a cappella number. These will be performed by the full chorus, small ensembles and several soloists.
New singers: The chorus welcomed six new members this fall – Patrice Cole and Beth Hadden (sopranos); Barbara Belonax and Marielle Ramsey (altos); Randy Prinz and Monte Sriver (tenors). We are delighted to have them be a part of the PebbleCreek Singers! Look for them on stage in December.
True to tradition the PC Singers will usher in the 2015 holiday season with this popular holiday concert. Performance dates are Tuesday, December 1 through Sunday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Renaissance Theatre. Watch for future PebbleCreek Post articles with information on ticket sales.

“Love, Loss, And What I Wore”
Carrie Mataraza
Attention PebbleCreek women! PC Players, featuring the Roving Readers, is presenting a special performance on October 29 of the fabulously funny Love, Loss, and What I Wore by Nora and Delia Ephron. The sisters based their play on the equally humorous book by Ilene Beckerman and it is sure to evoke your own nostalgic memories as you hear five women describe pivotal events in their lives. Organized as a series of monologues told by the women, the narratives about their clothing become a time capsule of their lives and relationships.
The bet is on that every woman in the audience will be able to identify with at least one, probably more, of the accounts of being female that this play presents: that embarrassing time shopping for your first bra; what about that prom dress?; sharing women’s dressing rooms; not to mention the constant woes over your weight, too thin or too fat – doesn’t matter.
Love, Loss, and What I Wore was initially presented in 2008 at Guild Hall in East Hampton, New York, and then at the DR2 Theatre in New York City in early 2009. Later the same year, the show was produced Off-Broadway as a commercial theatrical production at the Westside Theatre in New York. It became the second longest running show in that theater’s history. The play won the 2010 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience as well as the 2010 Broadway.com Audience Award for Favorite New Off-Broadway Play. It has been produced on six continents and in more than eight countries.
And now it is coming to PebbleCreek! The Roving Readers have been working enthusiastically all summer to bring you their very special interpretation of the play. They have created an afternoon made for reminiscing about things funny and true while you conjure up the clothes you wore and the emotions and events that went with them.
This show is not a fashion show but it is a walk down memory lane, presented to support the Build the Backstage project. Yes, this is a show you will want to share with your friends so think about reserving a portion or a full table of 10.
Come to laugh and to remember on the afternoon of October 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. Tickets will go on sale September 21 through October 2, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to noon in the Eagle’s Nest Kiosk. Ticket price is $20 per person, $10 of which is tax deductible, and includes tea or coffee and a delicious dessert at your table. You may reserve a full table of 10, a partial table or a single seat but get your place(s) early because space is very limited for this small, intimate performance. This is one afternoon we promise you won’t forget!
